MedAmerica Mutual and ePocrates Team Again on Expanded Risk Management Project, Oakland, Calif. (September 2, 2003) - MedAmerica Mutual is pleased to offer their insureds a subsidy toward the purchase of the new ePocrates Rx Pro™ software. ePocrates is recognized as the gold standard in handheld clinical references.

MedAmerica Mutual in 2001 distributed over 500 Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) at a fraction of the retail price along with the original version of ePocrates Rx® software to their insured physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. This project was conducted under a risk management initiative directed by Dr. Mark Thomas, a physician consultant. The goal was to enhance patient safety by having medication information electronically available at the click of a menu conveniently at the patient's bedside.
