Medication Management
The prevention of medication errors is a primary focus in the delivery of health care. To enhance patient safety by having medication information electronically available at the click of a menu and at the patient's bedside, we offer our insureds a subsidy toward the purchase of Epocrates® Essentials, Epocrates Rx Pro® and Medical Wizards’ ERSuite software. This software is used in conjunction with a physician's Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).

Emergency Airway Management
Airway management is a skill central to Emergency Medicine. The MedAmerica Mutual difficult airway project details the latest in emergency airway techniques and tools and addresses clinical scenarios in patient morbidity and mortality and identifies options to minimize these occurrences.

Medical Record Documentation
In an effort to improve documentation of the medical record, MedAmerica Mutual offers its insureds a self-study course specific to communication and record keeping in emergency medicine.

Continuing Education
MedAmerica Mutual provides our insured medical groups with ongoing education in the form of individualized seminars specific to the needs of our groups. Topics presented include: vascular disasters, medical record documentation, emergency airway management, chest pain, sepsis and pediatric fevers.

Clinical Improvement
A number of best practices protocols have been implemented to enhance clinical outcomes. MedAmerica Mutual, in conjunction with its insureds, is continuously identifying issues and developing solutions for better patient management and improved patient outcomes.
